Info and tips for tuna tartare crispy rice waffle

For this recipe you will need to by good quality sushi grade tuna. There is no cooking involved in this recipe so it’s important to get the tuna fresh so you don’t get sick. It should smell fresh like seawater, and have a nice pink colour. I have used canned tuna for this recipe and it tastes good as well, so if you don’t love eating raw fish this would be an alternative option for you!

I use sushi rice for this recipe as it is nice and sticky. The crispy rice will take anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on the strength of your waffle maker. You want the texture to be crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. Make sure to spray your waffle maker with some oil so the rice doesn’t stick.

If you have any leftover tuna tartare and rice I always love to make poke bowls with it!
