Air Fried Spicy Pickles

If you like pickles and hot cheetos, then this one’s for you. Air fried spicy pickles are pickles cut into chips, crusted in a blend of panko and hot cheetos, then air fried until golden and crispy.

Info and tips

When you cut the pickles into chips they should be about the thickness of your pinky. You don’t want them too thin because I find the thinner pickle chips kind of dry out when you cook them.

Make sure you dry the chips really well with some paper towel. You want to absorb as much moisture as possible so that the pickles don’t go soggy when you bread them.

I also double dip the pickles in the flour and egg twice when breading before dipping them into the panko and cheetos. This makes them extra crispy. Make sure you really press the pickles into the crumb mixture!

Ingredients

  • 4-5 large pickles
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • tbsp Spicy Dan O’s Seasoning (or your favourite spicy seasoning blend)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup panko
  • 1/2 cup blended hot cheetos
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Cut the pickles into chips. About the width of your pinky.
  2. Dry the pickle chips really well with some paper towel.
  3. Meanwhile blend the cheetos in a food processor or crush them by hand into tiny crumbs.
  4. Set up your dredging station. Add flour and seasoning to one, eggs to the second, and panko and blended cheetos to the last. Mix all the bowls well.
  5. Dip the pickle chips into the flour and then egg. Dip into the flour and egg one more time before dipping into the crumb mixture. Make sure to press well into the crumb mixture to evenly coat the pickle.
  6. Once all pickles are coated spray with some cooking oil on both sides.
  7. Place in the air fryer for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway until golden brown.
  8. Remove and serve with your favourite dipping sauce! Enjoy!
