Banana Nutella Egg Rolls

Banana Nutella egg rolls are the perfect deep fried treat. They remind me of something you’d get from the fair… but way better. This recipe features banana, Nutella, and Skor pieces wrapped in a chewy egg roll and deep fried until crispy.

Info and tips for banana Nutella egg rolls

I like to buy pre made egg roll wrappers for these. You can definitely make your own if you want! I don’t have a recipe for homemade egg roll wrappers yet but it is on my list πŸ™‚ You can usually find egg roll wrappers buy the tofu and fresh noodle refrigerated section in most grocery stores. If not, local Asian markets will usually have them.

When working with the wrappers make sure you wet the edges with a little water. This will act as a glue and seal the edges together. You don’t want any of the Nutella to leak out when frying! If you’d rather not deep fry you can use your air fryer. Just spray with a little oil and air fry until they are golden and crispy.

This is my favourite Ninja Air Fryer that I use when I don’t feel like deep frying the egg rolls!

Ingredients for banana Nutella egg rolls

  • 20 egg roll wrappers
  • Nutella
  • 5 bananas
  • Skor pieces
  • Neutral oil (canola, peanut, vegetable)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • icing sugar (for garnish)
  • caramel sauce (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by cutting your bananas into halves lengthwise, then cut them in half again widthwise. You should be left with 4 equal pieces. Repeat until you have cut all 5 bananas leaving you with 20 pieces.
  2. Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with the bottom point facing you in a diamond shape. Spread the nutella on, leaving about an inch in each corner for folding. Add a piece of banana and a sprinkle of skor. How much nutella and skor is up to you!
  3. Wet the edges of the egg roll. Grab the outer corners of the diamond and fold over top of the banana. Grab the bottom corner and fold over top of that. Press down and continue rolling up to seal the edges together. It is similar to folding a burrito, see the video tutorial for a visual if needed!
  4. Repeat this process until you have made all 20 eggrolls. Meanwhile preheat your oil in a pot. You want enough oil to at least cover the eggrolls half way. Test the heat of the oil by sticking a wooden chopstick or spoon into it. If it bubbles your oil is hot enough, if not keep heating. You may also air fry instead (just spray some oil on the eggrolls before)!
  5. Fry for a couple minutes on each side before removing immediately into the cinnamon sugar. Roll to coat and remove to a wire rack.
  6. Garnish with icing sugar and caramel sauce and enjoy warm!
