Crockpot Hot Chocolate Bar

Crockpot hot chocolate bar features super rich and creamy hot chocolate made with little effort in the crockpot, with lots of toppings.

Crockpot hot chocolate bar is the cutest idea for hosting this holiday season. The hot chocolate is super rich and creamy made with little to no effort in the crockpot. The best part is the topping bar where everyone gets to decorate their own hot chocolate. The kids will love it and so will the adults!

Info and tips for crockpot hot chocolate bar

My only tip when it comes to the hot chocolate is to make sure you are stirring occasionally. The chocolate bars can sometimes stick to the bottom, so stirring will help ensure they don’t burn and help mix everything together.

The topping bar is the fun part! For my toppings I chose mini marshmallows, homemade whipped cream, candy canes, cinnamon sticks, toffee bits, and crushed Oreos. Some other ideas are chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, cookies, peppermint bark, sprinkles, white chocolate, mini M&M’s, graham crackers, or coarse sea salt!

Equipment

I use theΒ Crock-Pot 6 Quart Programable Slow CookerΒ for this recipe.

Ingredients for crockpot hot chocolate bar

  • 6 cups milk
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 200g semi sweet chocolate bar
  • 200g milk chocolate bar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla

topping ideas

  • mini marshmallows
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate cips
  • candy canes
  • cinnamon sticks
  • caramel syrup
  • toffee bits
  • Oreos
  • gingersnap cookies

Instructions

  1. Cut the chocolate bars into small pieces (this will help them melt better). Add the milk, heavy whipping cream, sugar, semi sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, and vanilla to your crockpot. Give everything a good whisk and set your crockpot to low for 2 hours.
  2. Periodically whisk the hot chocolate to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom. Once everything is melty and smooth you can change the setting to keep warm for serving. I don’t recommend cooking on high as the chocolate might separate from the milk.
  3. While the hot chocolate cooks you can set up your topping bar. You can use my topping ideas or your own! Serve with some festive mugs and enjoy!
