Dumpling lasagna combines the comforting flavours of classic dumplings with the ease of a layered lasagna, skipping the time-consuming wrapping step. This meal is great for busy nights when you just need to throw something together, but don’t want to sacrifice flavour or nutrition.
Info and tips for dumpling lasagna
This recipe is super customizable and a great fridge clean out. You can use any ground meat you have and almost any veggies. Some different mix ins you can use are:
- kimchi
- mushrooms
- carrots
- tofu
- gochujang (if you want it spicy)
- miso paste (more umami!)
I used dumpling wrappers but if you can’t find them wonton wrappers will work as well. Just make sure you dip each wrapper in some water before layering. For this dish we are using a steaming technique to cook the dumpling lasagna. It’s super simple so don’t be deterred. All you need is a saucepan with a lid and some water. Steaming keeps the dumpling meat juicy and tender, while also keeping that classic dumpling flavour and texture.
Equipment

I like to use my Our Place Pan for steaming. It comes with a lid that has built in steaming holes which is super helpful.

February 8, 2026 at 4:40 pmThe dumpling lasagne sounds really good, right up my familyβs alley. Do you put the meat in raw and it just cooks as it steams, or cook it first?
