Info and tips for ham and swiss pinwheels

If you want you can use store bought or pre made pizza dough for this recipe! But if you want to make your own (trust me its worth it) here are some tips:

  • Use warm water when activating the yeast. This helps activate the fermentation process. Wait about 5 minutes until the mixture is foamy and bubbly before adding the dry ingredients. If you are using instant yeast, you can skip the activation step!
  • Using a stand mixer helps so much, but you can also knead this by hand. Poke the dough with your finger, if it springs back quickly, it is done being kneaded. I used the kneading attachment on medium speed for about 4-5 minutes until a dough ball formed.
  • Make sure you don’t add too much flour, the dough should be soft and slightly tacky.
  • Let the dough rest in a warm spot for at least and hour or until doubled in size. Keep it covered with a towel or plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out while rising. Also add a bit of olive oil to the bowl, this helps prevent the dough sticking.

These can be easy frozen and then reheated in the oven for a perfect freezer friendly snack! Store in an airtight bag or container for up to 3 months. Reheat by placing in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 350 or until warmed through.
